Grice Consulting Group provided task order services for 16 traffic/transportation topics including bicycle and pedestrian planning and analysis. Under this contract, the task orders assigned and completed include Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans – NW and SE Districts of Washington, DC and Traffic, Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Studies – District wide. To accomplish these tasks, Grice Consulting Group collected data on general roadway characteristics (control type, lane configuration, speed limit, etc.), pedestrian facilities (crosswalk presence, crossing signs, etc.), and transit facilities (e.g., bust stop). Based on the data collection, field observations and analysis of existing conditions, several modifications that could improve the safety and operations at the intersection were proposed. Concepts to address identified deficiencies were developed to minimize cost and impacts beyond the existing curb line, while trying to achieve the greatest benefit.
